Founded in the fall of 2023, Re/Match is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides financial support to visual artists living and making in Chicago to encourage the production of new work and celebrate the vibrancy and energy of the visual arts field in Chicago.
Centered in artist advocacy, Re/Match provides both financial and professional support for visual artists to support the development and sustainability of their arts practice.
Re/Match awards and collaborates with artists who are pushing the boundaries of their visual mediums: whether by reimagining physical materialities, building space for exchange and engagement, using art to instigate civic change, or working collaboratively with fellow artists.
In 2024, Re/Match distributed $50,000 in unrestricted funds. The first five recipients of the Re/Match artist award each received $10,000. Recipients included
In 2025, Re/Match will distribute $40,000 in unrestricted funds to a total of four recipients to be announced in April 2025 in tandem with EXPO CHICAGO.
About the Founder
Samantha Reynolds is an arts administrator based in Chicago, IL. In 2023, she founded Re/Match, a non-profit centered in artist advocacy that provides financial support to Chicago visual artists. She was recently featured as a part of Newcity Magazine’s 2024 Art 50. From 2021 - 2023, she managed the University Club of Chicago’s permanent art collection and exhibition series. Prior to returning to Chicago, she served as the Art Programs Director for Root Division, a visual art non-profit in San Francisco, CA.
She has extensive experience facilitating speaker programs, fundraisers, and other special events. She received a BA in Art History from Boston College and MA in Arts Administration & Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her process of working is centered on supporting emerging and mid-career visual artists, especially artists who operate outside of traditional art markets and structures.
